TIME'S UP

Time's Up

The Time's up movement fights for women' rights generally, specially in cases such as sexual assault or harassment, abuse of power and discrimination. The 2018 Golden Globes didn't have the mood for questions about fashion, people weren't thinking about that .They were thinking and interested in the statement they wanted to make and the movement they were supporting. But if you think about it that night was also about fashion ,people wanted to make a proclamation and support the movement without needing to say a word ,they wanted share statement between themselve and all women. They did that by wearing black as a symbol of support to the movement, and I am not only talking about clothes but some artists also tried  to express their support with jewelry and hair.

Reese Witherspoon ,one of the Time's Up founders said:“There's space for reconciliation,...there is a time to tell the truth and to listen thoughtfully and apologize sincerely.” A lot of other women also spoke up saying that they have to seize the momentum, and that silence helps the aggressor not the victim. It's “major push” were the allegations against Harvey Weinstein. The movement was in response to the Weinstein effect and #MeToo,The Weinstein effect is a global trend where people come forward and powerful and famous men.#MeToo is a two-word hashtag used to demonstrate the world wide  presence of sexual assault and harassment. They want to change the work industry and support women speaking out against sexual misconduct ,fix the entertainment industry's gender gap . Hollywood women of Time's Up say they're committed to using the MeToo hashtag not just for themselves on behalf of the women who don't receive the necessary attention.

One of the groups determinations is to push back against the use of nondisclosure agreements.

There was also a big demonstration of support to the Time's Up movement in the 2018 Grammy Awards.       Voices in Entertainment ,a group formed to oblige the Time's Up movement, asked Grammy participants to wear a white rose in support of the fight against sexual harassment and power abuse. The music industry wants to unite themselves and help in the struggle by supporting Time's Up movement and creating a safer and equal work environment. The Time's Up organization said that the white rose symbolizes respect which is one of their hopes for the future. The Grammy preshow was full of MeToo questions trying to get an example of how the music industry can help the battle against inequality and power abuse. The largest demonstration of support to the movement was Kesha's performance of “Praying” alongside Camila Cabello,Cyndi Lauper,Julia Michaels,Bebe Rexha and Andra Day. They were all in white.

The importance of all these demonstrations is that women are showing that they won't accept abuse, harassment and inequality,we are making a statement,an announcement that we will fight to create a safer and fair environment for us all around the world  and that we won't be silent anymore. Time's Up.
