Fashion's effect on Mental Health

A lot of people may think fashion is only about clothing and appearances, and yes it's about that but it's also so much more. Usually some people don't understand how fashion helps with our individual self expression, and in times of hardships and mental health issues self expression is something that can be crucial in our path of well being. From personal experience sometimes, when I'm in a rut or depressed just by putting an outfit that allows me to feel empowered, or cute or even a badass can make me feel hope and peace, and even give me motivation to get out of the house which when we're depressed it's truly hard to do. There are so many mental health issues, some are worse than others, but every one of them takes a toll on the person who has it, and I truly believe that fashion and the uniqueness it can give to self expression is really important to the psyche of someone with mental issues. It's essential people understand that something so simple like what we wear can change so much, it can create motivation, peace, happiness, it can make someone with low self esteem feel powerful, unique and talented. Sometimes the key to trying to work through your issues is just being your authentic self, not caring what others think, and with fashion that's easy to do, you can demonstrate who you truly are with elegant stylish outfits that reflect who you are and help you release your inner empowered badass vibes.
