The Rise of Menswear

Men's fashion has always been overlooked compared to women's fashion in the fashion industry. It has often felt monotonous and repetitive. All of this is mostly due to the fact that since the start of time, our society has mostly been patriarchal and is stained by the years of gender inequality and gender roles that were imposed onto us so long ago but still seem to be carved in our way of life today.

In the last few years, men's Fashion has had a tremendous evolution which has provided the fashion world with some amazing effects and breakthrough inventions. The transformation in men's fashion has walked hand in hand with the growth and development of society's gender issues and the reconstruction of these ancient gender roles. With more and more people going against these societal norms and just being bold in telling the world who they are, the fashion industry has felt the direct effects of this resulting in a gradual increase of bold designs for men, with the deconstruction of old-fashioned values and just free expression and adventure as its primary source of focus.

Nowadays the demand for daring and striking menswear clothing is constantly growing and we can see that clearly, with this year's Paris fashion week. We can spot these eye-catching and valiant designs in various brands' shows. All contain bold colors, different styles of fabric, and unisex designs, adding femininity to menswear and masculinity to womenswear. This advancement in fashion is crucial because it provides people with the empowerment to express who they really are without trying to conform to select antiquated stereotypes. Men are increasingly feeling the freedom to not only express themselves but to have fun in choosing how they dress, wearing skirts and purses has never been more vivid and fashionable, and the demand doesn't stop. This is a true example of how archaic societal norms are out of fashion and labels simply don't work for us as a community anymore.

The expansion of the gender spectrum has aided a lot with the understanding of how these conventions have been outgrown, and clothing should be a personal choice that provides people with individuality and liberty to be creative and convey who they are.

Another aspect that has had a big effect on men's fashion, and fashion as a whole, is the quarantine and COVID. During quarantine, it became a habit to just wear comfortable clothes at home, and in the present time,  we can perceptibly see the urging desire to wear relaxing and comfortable clothes. We can plainly see a result of this in the present designs and collections. Relaxing, oversized clothing has never been more fashionable and trending, from giant chino pants to hybrid shoes. That adds practicality and comfort to our lives and daily clothes and pushes fashion's limits to the next level.
